A new tremor shook northern Venezuela again, increasing tension among a population still struggling to recover from last week’s devastating double earthquake.
The earthquake, recorded on Monday, forced hundreds of people to leave their homes once again due to fears of additional collapses in already weakened structures.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake reached a magnitude of 4.6, although local authorities reported slightly lower figures.
The epicenter was located near La Guaira, one of the areas hardest hit by the previous earthquakes that left thousands of victims.

The earthquake adds to a series of more than 400 aftershocks recorded in recent days, keeping Venezuela authorities and residents on permanent alert.
Many families have chosen to remain in open spaces or temporary shelters due to the risk of new collapses.

Five days after the main disaster, rescue teams continue working nonstop among the rubble in search of survivors.
Acting President Delcy Rodríguez called for continued search efforts and announced plans to assist those who lost their homes.
Operations are focused especially in La Guaira, considered the center of the devastation caused by the strongest earthquakes.
National and international teams have established logistical centers to coordinate the humanitarian response in the region.
Victim and missing person numbers continue to rise
The earthquake death toll remains critical, with at least 1,450 people killed and more than 3,100 injured, according to official figures.
In addition, thousands of families remain affected as uncertainty grows over the true number of missing people.
Foreign governments have also reported victims among their citizens, including Europeans and South Americans impacted by the tragedy.
Authorities have confirmed some live rescues so far, although details have not been released, as the emergency continues to develop, according to El Universal.
