The first lady’s appearances alongside the president have once again fueled speculation about their marriage, according to the Atlanta Black Star portal.

Anthony Scaramucci, a former Trump advisor, claims that the couple «has probably grown apart,» although this is his personal interpretation.

Melania Trump has been at the center of public moments for years in which she seems to dodge kisses or affectionate gestures from President Donald Trump.

Now, Anthony Scaramucci, the former White House communications director, claims that the relationship between the two is distant and revealed an episode in which Trump allegedly showed discomfort with his closeness to Melania.

Why it matters: The claims offer the version of a former Trump collaborator on a relationship that generates public attention, but they do not prove on their own what the private situation of the marriage is.

Melania Rejects Trump’s Kisses: Why?

Scaramucci recounted on the Daily Beast’s podcast on August 9 that during a dinner in the Blue Room of the White House, he was seated next to Melania.

According to his account, Trump approached him and asked, «Why are you sitting next to my wife?» Scaramucci responded that he had not arranged the seating.

His interpretation: «I think it bothers him that people have a good relationship with her,» the former official stated.

Scaramucci worked for just 10 days as White House communications director in July 2017 and later became a critic of Trump.

Melania Has Reduced Her Public Appearances

The speculation has also been fueled by Melania’s absences and public moments in which she has rejected taking the president’s hand or dodged his kisses.

According to the provided information, Melania made 47 public appearances after Trump’s inauguration in January 2025 and 38 during the first seven months of 2026.

The difference: A lower public presence or certain gestures in front of cameras do not allow us to establish on their own what the state of their marriage is.

Melania has accompanied the president at recent events, including the celebration of his 80th birthday at a UFC event at the White House and the 2026 World Cup final in New Jersey.

Trump Spoke About There Only Being «One Star»

Another moment that drew attention occurred during a speech in May, when Trump praised Melania’s documentary but later made comments about success within his family.

«I don’t like it when success is associated with family members,» Trump stated. He then added: «There’s only room for one star in a family.»

He also joked that it would be better to «get rid of her» before acknowledging: «But people love her.»

The context: The comments sparked speculation on the internet about possible jealousy, although Trump did not claim that there was a marital conflict.

Scaramucci Believes the Trumps Have Grown Apart

Scaramucci described the marriage as a «transactional contractual relationship,» although he acknowledged that he has never seen a contract to support this characterization.

He also claimed that they «have probably grown apart» and stated that he considers it «quite evident» that they do not live together.

The limit: These claims correspond to Scaramucci’s opinion and do not constitute a direct confirmation from Melania or Donald Trump about the current state of their relationship.
