According to the news agency EFE, a federal judge has permanently blocked the release of a key report related to President Donald Trump.
The decision prevents the publication of the document prepared by former special counsel Jack Smith.
The report addresses the case concerning the alleged mishandling of classified documents following Trump’s first term in office.

Judge Aileen Cannon approved the petition filed by Trump to halt the publication.
Cannon was appointed to the bench by the president himself.
The order blocks the disclosure of “Volume II of the final report prepared by former Special Counsel Jack Smith.”
The ruling was recorded in court documents accessed by EFE.
The decision establishes that U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, or her successors, as well as the Department of Justice and anyone acting in coordination with them, may not disclose, share, or transmit Volume II of the report or any of its drafts.
However, the judge did not order the destruction of the document.

The report is linked to a case filed in 2023.
In that proceeding, Trump was indicted before a Florida court.
He was accused of allegedly taking classified documents when leaving office.
He was also accused of unlawfully retaining them at his private residence in Mar-a-Lago.
Investigations Led by Former Special Counsel Jack Smith
Jack Smith was appointed in 2022 by then–Attorney General Merrick Garland.
His appointment aimed to lead investigations related to Trump after the conclusion of his first term.
In addition to the classified documents case, Smith also indicted the president over the Capitol riot.
In that case, Trump was accused of acting for political motives.
He was indicted before the federal court of the District of Columbia.
He was alleged to have attempted to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
That election was won by Democrat Joe Biden.
He was also accused of inciting the January 6, 2021, assault on the Capitol.
Charges Withdrawn After Electoral Victory
The president consistently denied the accusations against him.
On several occasions, he described the investigations as a “witch hunt” by the Biden Administration.
Trump was never brought to trial in any of the cases.
Special Counsel Jack Smith withdrew the charges after the Republican leader won the 2024 presidential election.
The decision was based on Department of Justice policy.
That policy prohibits the criminal prosecution of a sitting president.
The permanent blocking of the Trump classified documents report comes within this legal and political context.
The order limits the possibility that the contents of Volume II may be disseminated by federal authorities.
As a result, the document will remain unpublished, although it was not destroyed.
