PROBLEMS AT HOME? Beloved singer Ricky Martin is involved in a huge scandal and has finally decided to break his silence about serious accusations of domestic violence that have been leveled against him. He insists they are false.

After a protective order was issued against him, the Puerto Rican said, through his legal team, that these accusations of domestic violence are «completely false» and that the truth will come to light.

“The allegations against Ricky Martin that led to a protection order are completely false and fabricated,“ Ricky Martin’s lawyers wrote in a statement released by Perfect Partners, the singer’s public relations firm in Puerto Rico.

They did not offer further details, but the artist’s legal team came to his defense, ensuring that the truth will prevail. «We are very confident that when the true facts come out in this matter, our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated.»

What happened?

The scandal was unleashed when the Puerto Rico Police confirmed that they had issued a restraining order against Ricky Martin after a complaint was filed under Law 54, which ensures the protection of victims of domestic violence.

In a statement, the local police revealed that Judge Raiza Cajigas Campbell, of the Court of First Instance of San Juan, issued the order. As for the plaintiff, it is unknown exactly who he is because his anonymity is protected under the Law for the Prevention and Intervention with Domestic Violence, EFE explained.

“Fear for his safety”

Although the Puerto Rico Police cannot reveal the name of the person who accused Ricky Martin, the document does indicate that both people may have been dating for seven months and that they may have separated two years ago. However, the Puerto Rican did not take the break up well, according to local newspaper El Vocero.

According to the plaintiff, the famous singer not only calls him constantly, but on at least three occasions he has been caught loitering in the vicinity of his residence. So he finally decided to file the petition in court alleging that «he fears for his safety».

Who sued Ricky Martin?

Although the law protects him and the authorities will not reveal his identity, some on social media claim that it is a cousin or a nephew of Ricky Martin. Meanwhile, Enrique Martín Morales, his birth name, is still married to Jwan Yosef, an artist of Syrian origin whom he married in 2017 and with whom he has four children.

This difficult situation for Ricky Martin occurs precisely when he is dealing with a lawsuit filed against him by his former representative Rebecca Druker in the Central District Court of Los Angeles. Druker is suing  the artist for more than $3 million.
