Richard Glossip walked out of prison this week after spending nearly three decades on death row in Oklahoma.
His release on bail became possible after Kim Kardashian covered the amount set by the judge.
The news was announced by producer Scott Budnick, who celebrated the moment on social media.
“After 29 innocent years on Oklahoma’s death row, Richard Glossip walked out this afternoon as a free man!” he wrote.
$500,000 bail to release Richard Glossip

Budnick explained that the release became possible after the bail was paid immediately.
“Well, he has now been released on bail, which was generously paid immediately by Kim Kardashian,” he revealed.

Judge Natalie Mai had set the bail amount at $500,000 only hours before Glossip’s release from prison.
Budnick also thanked Kardashian and music executive Jason Flom for supporting the case.
A long-awaited reunion
Glossip left prison wearing a gray shirt and jeans while accompanied by his wife, Lea Glossip.
“Tonight he is home, in the arms of his wife Lea, for the first time in his life,” Budnick stated.
Clearly emotional, the former inmate expressed gratitude while reuniting with his family.
“I’m just thankful to my wife and my attorneys. Just grateful… It’s overwhelming, but at the same time it’s incredible,” he said.
Strict conditions remain in place
Although Richard Glossip has been released on bail, he must wear an electronic monitoring device.
He is also prohibited from leaving Oklahoma or contacting witnesses connected to the case.
Additionally, he is not allowed to consume drugs or alcohol while awaiting the next stage of the legal proceedings.
His case remains active as he awaits a new trial for the 1997 murder case.

Kim Kardashian’s public support
In 2023, Kim Kardashian publicly advocated for Glossip through a message posted on X.
At the time, she stated that he “urgently needs our help” and argued that he had spent years imprisoned “for a crime he did not commit.”
The businesswoman urged the state pardon board to grant clemency before a scheduled execution date.

Kardashian also wrote: “Let them know in your own words that Richard Glossip deserves full clemency. We cannot execute another man, especially for a crime he did not commit!”
Supreme Court overturned the conviction
Last year, the Supreme Court of the United States overturned Glossip’s conviction.
The court determined that allowing false testimony from a key witness violated his constitutional right to a fair trial.
During his years on death row, Glossip faced nine execution dates and came within moments of execution on three separate occasions.
Now, while awaiting a new trial, his case once again returns to both public and judicial scrutiny, according to Univisión.
