Mexico Crushes Serbia and Arrives Fired Up for the 2026 World Cup

The Mexican National Team closed its preparation for the 2026 World Cup with a dominant 5-1 victory over Serbia at Estadio Nemesio Diez.

The team coached by Javier Aguirre showed offensive power and left strong impressions just days before the start of the World Cup.

Serbia Surprised, but Mexico Reacted

Despite Mexico’s dominance in the opening minutes, Serbia opened the scoring in the 19th minute through Petar Stanic, who took advantage of a defensive mix-up between Johan Vásquez and Jesús Gallardo.

El Tri’s reaction did not take long.

In the 34th minute, Johan Vásquez tied the match with a powerful header after a cross from Brian Gutiérrez.

Before halftime, Serbia committed an incredible own goal after poor communication between defender Stefan Bukinac and goalkeeper Filip Stankovic, allowing Mexico to go into the break with a 2-1 lead.

Raúl Jiménez Keeps Making History

In the second half, Raúl Jiménez extended the lead by pushing in a ball that had hit the post after a shot from Julián Quiñones.

With the goal, Jiménez reached 45 goals with the Mexican national team.

Later, Serbia scored another own goal through Adem Avdic to make it 4-1.

Midfielder Luis Chávez set the final score with a powerful shot from outside the box to seal the 5-1 victory.

Mexico Arrives Motivated for the World Cup 2026

Although Serbia showed a much lower level than expected, Mexico delivered with authority and will arrive with confidence for its World Cup debut.

El Tri’s next challenge will be against South Africa, a match in which it will once again enter as the favorite.
