According to El Siglo de Torreón, Lupillo Rivera and Belinda once again find themselves at the center of a growing controversy, after the regional Mexican singer filed a countersuit against the pop star.
This legal action comes after Belinda accused Rivera of gender-based and digital violence, invoking Mexico’s Olimpia Law, which penalizes the non-consensual dissemination of intimate content.
Lupillo’s attorney, Alonso Beceiro, confirmed the countersuit, stating that it targets Belinda for alleged false statements and that the restraining orders she requested lack legal grounds.

This afternoon, the 53-year-old singer confirmed the countersuit through a legal statement shared on his official social media accounts.
“These legal actions aim to clarify and separate responsibilities arising from false and defamatory statements that have damaged Mr. Rivera’s honor, public image, and professional career,” the statement reads.
The conflict originated when Belinda allegedly denied having a romantic relationship with Rivera.
In past interviews, she reportedly referred to him as “irrelevant,” a comment that sparked renewed tension.
Tension Between Both Artists Escalates
The dispute intensified after Lupillo Rivera released his autobiography.
In it, he referenced his past relationship with Belinda during their time together on the TV show La Voz México.
Belinda’s legal team viewed certain passages as an unauthorized public exposure of private matters.
They also expressed concern over the potential dissemination of intimate material, which they claimed could violate the singer’s privacy.
Olimpia Law at the Center of Both Lawsuits
Belinda’s complaint was filed under the Olimpia Law, focused on penalizing the non-consensual dissemination of intimate content.
However, Lupillo Rivera’s countersuit is also based on the same law.
His attorney argues that Belinda mentioned alleged sex-related videos that were never disseminated.
Therefore, he maintains that she incurred in false statements.
Lupillo Rivera countersues Belinda using her own argument
“I have not seen any video of an erotic or sexual nature that Lupillo disseminated,” Beceiro declared.
“What he made public was the romantic relationship he had with her, which she also acknowledges in her complaint.”
The lawyer noted that Belinda’s complaint refers to intimate videos that do not even exist.
He claims this generated an unjust media lynching against the singer.
Arguments from Lupillo’s defense
The singer’s legal team maintains that he has been unjustly accused.
They assert that Lupillo Rivera is being judged on social media without real evidence against him.
They point out that his public image has been damaged and that the singer allegedly acted in bad faith.
For this reason, they demand compensation for damages and a complete legal exoneration.
