A call to “serve and protect.”
Activist Carlos Eduardo Espina shared a video in which a Latino Border Patrol officer invites people to join the agency with the promise of a $30,000 bonus for those who enroll in the training academy.
In the message, the officer says they are looking for “people who want to serve and protect their nation.”
He emphasizes that the job allows you to go home “every day proud” because “all actions have great implications for the nation.”

According to the agent, the main goal is to strengthen border security and boost the operational capacity of the force.
The initiative is part of efforts to increase the number of officers.
This, against the backdrop of a national debate on immigration and border security.
As reported by Carlos Eduardo Espina.
Criticism from Activists
Espina responded sharply to the video, questioning the official narrative and calling it inconsistent to portray working for Border Patrol as an honorable and dignified job.
“I can’t understand how he dares to say that working with Border Patrol is an honest and dignified job when all we’ve seen is them hunting down hardworking people in raids like at Home Depot and elsewhere,” he said.
The activist, known for defending the rights of migrants in the United States, stressed that the agency’s history of operations shows a pattern of arrests.
Targeting people who contribute to the economy and pose no threat to national security.
Reactions on Social Media
The post sparked a wave of comments on social media, many of them sarcastic or critical of the officer’s message.
Among the responses were: “His body language doesn’t lie.” “I bet if this guy went and stood at Home Depot in plain clothes and some of the guys walked by, I’d bet they’d take him even if he said he works with them 😂😂.” “Start with your own family…” “More material for South Park!!! Hahaha.”
These reactions reflect skepticism and rejection from a segment of the Latino community toward Border Patrol—especially when it comes to Hispanic officers taking part in operations against migrants.
The controversy adds to a broader debate over the role of immigration enforcement agencies, their treatment of vulnerable communities, and recruitment strategies at a time of growing political polarization over immigration in the United States.
