ICE agents carried out immigration enforcement operations in several Tennessee cities on Wednesday morning, with reports of multiple detentions and a pursuit at a construction site in Franklin.

The first reports began before 7:00 a.m.

Witnesses reported immigration enforcement activity in at least three cities across the state.

The operations were reported in Nashville, Madison, and Franklin, Tennessee.

So far, ICE has confirmed only the details of the operation conducted in Franklin.

ICE Tennessee raids begin early in the morning

The first report came from the intersection of Haywood Lane and Apache Trail.

Witnesses said that at least five people were detained at that location.

Shortly afterward, another operation was reported at Old Hickory Boulevard and Rio Vista in Madison.

At that location, agents stopped a work truck.

So far, authorities have not confirmed whether anyone was arrested during that operation.

The ICE operation that generated the greatest concern took place at a construction site in Franklin.

Workers at the site said ICE agents arrived in at least four vehicles.

According to those witnesses, officers attempted to stop a pickup truck.

The workers said the driver allegedly ignored the order to stop.

According to their accounts, the vehicle continued to another construction site located just a short distance away.

The agency confirms pursuit and seven arrests in Franklin

This morning, around 8:45 a.m., an operation was carried out at a construction site located on Copley Rd in Franklin, Tennessee, resulting in at least two arrests.

According to workers, agents got out of their vehicles and began chasing people working at the site.

Initial reports indicated that at least two people were detained, according to Telemundo.

Following a request for information about these raids from Noticias Telemundo Tennessee, an ICE spokesperson confirmed that the operation was part of a targeted enforcement action in Franklin.

The agency released a statement outlining its version of the events.

«On July 9, ICE officers conducted a vehicle stop as part of a targeted enforcement action in Franklin, Tennessee. When officers activated their emergency lights and sirens, several individuals exited the vehicle and fled into the surrounding area.»

ICE said that after a brief pursuit, four foreign nationals who, according to the agency, were in the United States unlawfully were taken into custody.

Among them, ICE said, was a Mexican citizen with an active arrest warrant.

The agency also stated that the individual had prior offenses for driving under the influence, resisting arrest, and possessing an open container of alcohol.

ICE added that three other foreign nationals who, according to the agency, were also unlawfully present in the country and initially fled were arrested shortly afterward in the surrounding area.

ICE explains «collateral arrests» and promotes self-deportation

In its statement, ICE explained that its enforcement operations are directed at specific individuals.

The agency said that during these operations, officers may encounter other people who, according to ICE, are also unlawfully present in the United States.

The agency refers to those cases as «collateral arrests.»

The statement also included a message directed at individuals who do not have legal immigration status.

«Being in custody is a choice. We encourage all aliens who are unlawfully present in the country to take control of their departure by using the CBP Home app.»

ICE added that the United States offers $2,600 and a free flight to individuals who choose to self-deport through that program.

The agency said that those who accept the offer may preserve the opportunity to return to the United States legally in the future.

Finally, ICE warned that anyone who remains in the United States unlawfully will be arrested and deported, according to the same statement.
