According to Telemundo, the couple was detained while parking their vehicle at a Walmart.
Relatives said they were removed from their car and transported to an immigration facility in Atlanta.
From that point, each spouse was placed into a separate immigration case.
Telemundo Atlanta reported that it has not independently verified the circumstances of the arrests.
The outlet also stated that it has not received official information from ICE regarding either case.
Family Hires Attorney but Faces Two Separate Immigration Cases
Following the arrests, the family said they immediately sought legal assistance.
Relatives reported hiring an immigration attorney to represent the couple.
However, they explained that each spouse must go through an individual immigration proceeding, resulting in separate legal fees and court-related expenses.
