Possible Gas Leak Under Investigation
Authorities said a possible gas leak is one of the main lines of investigation.
The first report received by emergency services was related precisely to that type of incident.
So far, Dallas officials have not confirmed what caused the explosion.
Municipal officials said no city maintenance work was being carried out in the area when the emergency occurred.
Meanwhile, specialists continue analyzing conditions at the site.
Neighbors described the magnitude of the blast.
Julie Jensen, who lives less than a block from the affected building, said she was watching television when she heard a loud explosion.
According to her, the boom made the walls of her home shake.
She then saw a column of smoke rising over the neighborhood and people running away from the area.
Another witness, Sal De La Rosa, said he was working at a nearby auto shop when he heard the explosion.
He also said the impact shook part of the building where he was located.
Authorities asked the public to avoid speculation while investigations and search efforts continue at the site of the Dallas apartment explosion.
