The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) revealed a disturbing detail about the recent Anti-ICE shooting at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) offices in Dallas, Texas.

According to the official report, shell casings were found with messages written against the immigration agency.

Among the evidence are four bullets discovered among the attacker’s belongings, who ultimately took his own life at the scene.

Authorities stated that this discovery reinforces the theory that it was a targeted attack against ICE and its agents.

“The attack was directly against ICE agents. The shell casings contained messages against the agency,” the DHS said in a statement to the media.

Joseph Rothrock, FBI Special Agent in Dallas, confirmed the findings and added that some of the cartridges also carried anti-narcotics messages.

“The first evidence we obtained from the cartridges found near the suspected shooter contained messages of anti-narcotics content,” Rothrock said at a press conference, according to CNN.

The investigation is focused on determining whether the attacker acted alone and what his final motivations were when he opened fire on the federal building.

History of Threats Against ICE Offices

The DHS recalled that this was not an isolated event, since the same ICE office in Dallas had been the target of a bomb threat the previous month.

On August 18, a man showed up at the regional office entrance claiming he had an explosive in his backpack.

At the time, the suspect’s identity was unknown, but he was later identified as Bratton Dean Wilkinson, a 36-year-old U.S. citizen.

That incident triggered a major security operation, but it was later confirmed to be a false alarm.

Political Reaction to the Anti-ICE Shooting

This week’s attack sparked immediate political reactions, particularly from Texas lawmakers.

Republican Senator Ted Cruz strongly condemned what he sees as hostile rhetoric against ICE agents.

“Violence is unacceptable,” Cruz said at a press conference. “Politically motivated violence is unacceptable. To all the politicians who demonize ICE and CBP with their rhetoric, I say: enough!”

The senator argued that threats against ICE and other border security agencies has escalated to the point of becoming a real danger to the lives of agents.

CBP at the Center of the Immigration Debate

The work of ICE and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has been under heavy scrutiny due to operations against undocumented immigrants.

Advocacy groups have denounced aggressive tactics such as warrantless raids and use of force during arrests, generating social backlash.

However, federal authorities and Republican leaders argue that the growing number of attacks against these offices demonstrates the escalating political and social tension surrounding immigration.

The FBI and DHS confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing and that more details about the attacker and his motivations will be released in the coming days.

Meanwhile, ICE facilities in Dallas remain under strict surveillance amid heightened concern for the safety of both agents and migrants in custody, CNN reported.
