Braga Fresh has issued a precautionary notice for a specific lot of 12 oz Marketside broccoli florets.

This ready-to-eat, washed product was sold at Walmart stores, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The affected lot has an expiration date of December 10, 2024, and is no longer available in stores.

However, authorities warn that some consumers may have frozen the product.

Therefore, anyone who has it at home should discard it immediately and avoid consuming it.

The alert was triggered after a random sampling conducted by Texas Health & Human Services.

In a Texas store, a sample of Marketside broccoli tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.

So far, no illnesses related to this product have been reported.

Why is Listeria Dangerous?

Listeria monocytogenes can cause severe infections in vulnerable individuals: young children, the elderly, or people with weakened immune systems.

Symptoms include high fever, severe headache, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.

In pregnant women, this bacteria can cause miscarriages or fetal death.

Although healthy individuals may experience milder symptoms, a Listeria infection remains dangerous.

How to Identify the Affected Bags?

The affected product has the following characteristics:

Brand: Marketside. Package size: 12 oz bag of broccoli florets. UPC code: 6 81131 32884 5 (on the back).

Additionally, the lot code: BFFG327A6 (on the front of the bag). Expiration date: December 10, 2024. This notice does not affect other Marketside or Braga Fresh products.

If you have this recalled broccoli at home, do not consume it. Dispose of it immediately to avoid contamination risks.
