According to AS, U.S. financial giant Bank of America announced that it will temporarily close all its branches nationwide for 24 hours on Monday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day.

The bank confirmed that in-person operations will be suspended for the day but clarified that digital services and ATMs will continue to operate as usual.

This closure follows the Federal Reserve’s official holiday calendar, which governs banking holidays at the national level.

Branches will resume normal hours on Wednesday, November 12, when operations reopen across the country.

In addition to Bank of America, other major banks such as Wells Fargo, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Chase, Citibank, U.S. Bank, Capital One, Citizens Bank, BBVA, Santander, and Compass will also suspend in-person services for 24 hours.

Customers, however, can continue performing online transactions, including transfers, payments, and account inquiries, through digital banking platforms or ATMs, which will remain available throughout the holiday.

Veterans Day, observed each November 11, is one of 11 official federal holidays in the United States.

On this date, banks, post offices, public libraries, schools, and some private businesses will close their doors.

In contrast, supermarkets, restaurants, pharmacies, and retail stores typically remain open, though some may adjust their hours.

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) will also close for the day, resuming trading the following day.

Official bank holidays also include New Year’s Day, as well as variable commemorations such as Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, and Labor Day.

If a holiday falls on a Saturday, it is observed the previous Friday; if it falls on a Sunday, it moves to the following Monday, ensuring employees receive a day off.

Bank of America encourages customers to plan in-person transactions ahead of time, especially those involving loans, investments, or new accounts.

During the holiday, customers can access their accounts through the mobile app or official website, where they can pay bills, transfer money, and check balances.

The bank reminded clients that its automated phone service will remain available 24 hours a day, though live representatives will not take calls until operations resume the next day.

Meanwhile, ATMs will stay active for deposits and withdrawals, ensuring continuous access to cash throughout the Veterans Day holiday.
