The United States Department of Justice announced the dismantling of a migrant trafficking of people with links with a Mexican cartel.

The operation, carried out in coordination with the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) of Mexico, was carried out at the border between Juárez (Chihuahua) and the United States.

According to the Department of Justice, the organization used smuggling runners in Anapra (Chihuahua) and Santa Teresa (New Mexico) to move to migrants, including children, from Central America to El Paso (Texas).

Many of its members were Mexican citizens with links in various cartels in the country.

In addition to people traffic, the criminal group kidnapped migrants who tried cross illegally to the United States.

Then, they extorted their families to get money before allowing them to continue their trip.

During the operation, Brian Alan Torres González and Soledad Morales Nava were arrested.

The action was coordinated by the Joint Task Force Alfa (JTFA), an American division specialized in fighting traffic networks and human trafficking.

Since its creation, it has arrested more than 350 traffickers, according to the agency EFE.

It is worth mentioning that the Customs Immigration and Control Service (ICE) of El Paso also collaborated in the investigation along with the US border patrol.

The US government stressed that this operation reflects bilateral cooperation with Mexico in the fight against illegal people and migrants protection.
