A 64-year-old woman and her 13-year-old granddaughter were arrested in Florida after an incident ended with five minors sheltering inside a public bathroom while a pit bull remained outside.

  • Why it matters: Authorities in Flagler County were initially investigating the theft of personal items, but the case led to charges related to threats, intimidation, false imprisonment, and grand theft.

The Florida Pitbull Intimidation Case Began After a Dispute Between Teenagers

According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place at Ralph Carter Park in the city of Palm Coast.

The investigation began after the theft of a cell phone and a hoodie was reported.

During the inquiry, authorities identified Milan Pease, a 13-year-old girl who allegedly had a conflict with another minor.

Investigators said that one day before the incident, the girl allegedly tried to start a physical fight at the park.

According to the official version, she also allegedly pulled one of the victims’ hair before other people intervened to separate them.

Authorities said that after that altercation, the teenager continued contacting several minors through phone calls and social media messages.

According to investigators, those messages were intended to pressure other teenagers into fighting her.

The sheriff’s office also said that during the early morning hours of May 25, the girl allegedly sent death threats against two of the victims.

Authorities say both the minor and her grandmother warned that they would go to the park accompanied by a pitbull.

According to El Heraldo de México, hours later, five teenagers were at the park when they received new threats.

According to the investigation, a group made up of adults and teenagers arrived at the location in three vehicles.

One of those vehicles was carrying the dog mentioned by authorities.

When the five minors saw the group arrive, they ran toward a public bathroom and locked themselves inside.

The sheriff’s office said Allyson Pease-Frankel took control of the pitbull and walked toward the bathroom entrance.

When she reached the area, she allegedly released the leash while approaching the door.

Authorities said the teenager and other members of the group also approached the bathroom.

According to the investigation, Allyson Pease-Frankel pushed the door with enough force to bend it.

Authorities also say her granddaughter repeatedly hit and kicked the entrance.

Although the dog did not enter the bathroom, the minors remained sheltered inside for several minutes.

According to the official account, the teenagers asked for help while locked inside until the group left the area.

The Detainees Face Multiple Charges

While the minors remained inside the bathroom, the teenager allegedly took a cell phone, clothing, and other personal items that had been left on a picnic table.

The investigation later determined that those items were thrown into a nearby pond.

Because of the value of the cell phone, authorities filed a grand theft charge against the minor.

She also faces two counts of written threats to kill.

For her part, Allyson Pease-Frankel was charged with false imprisonment.

Investigators believe her actions helped prevent the minors from leaving the bathroom.

The 64-year-old woman was arrested and held on a $5,000 bond.

Her granddaughter was processed by authorities and later transferred to Florida’s juvenile justice system.

Sheriff Rick Staly criticized the adult’s participation in the incident.

The official said parents and grandparents should set an example on how to resolve conflicts without resorting to violence.
