The assassination of Charlie Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA, marked an unexpected turning point for the Phoenix-based organization.

Following his death on September 10 during an event at Utah Valley University, the board of directors announced that his wife, Erika Kirk, had been unanimously chosen as the new CEO and board chair.

Charlie Kirk was shot while delivering a speech, shocking both the university community and supporters of the conservative movement he helped build.

Authorities have charged Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old, with carrying out the attack that ended his life.
