The president of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that tariffs to Mexico and Canada will take effect on March 4.
The measure will depend on whether fentanyl traffic is «serious limited,» he said on his social truth network.
Trump also informed that additional tariffs of 10% to China will be imposed on the same day.
He said that drugs «continue to enter our country from Mexico and Canada to unacceptable levels.»

Trump emphasized that he will not allow this to continue affecting the United States.
He reiterated that, if there are no significant changes, tariffs will take effect as planned.
In addition, he said that at the beginning of April the «second reciprocal tariffs» will be implemented.
His statements contrast with what was said at their first cabinet meeting, where he hinted that the measures would be postponed until April 2.
In February, Trump had granted a month of grace to Mexico and Canada to demonstrate progress against fentanyl and immigration.

Both countries announced measures in response, but uncertainty about Trump’s commercial policy continues to affect the stock markets.
