Bodycam footage of former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo’s arrest released.

Milwaukee County authorities released bodycam footage showing the arrest of former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

The former NFL player was stopped on July 23 after a deputy observed what was described as an unsafe driving maneuver while he was traveling on Interstate 43.

The footage shows an officer explaining to Romo that he was pulled over for making a dangerous lane change.

When asked where he was coming from, the former quarterback said he had been at a golf course and was on his way to visit his grandparents.

When the officer asked how many alcoholic drinks he had consumed, Romo replied:

“Zero.”

He refused to take the test

Officers later asked Romo to perform standardized field sobriety tests.

Before getting out of the vehicle, Romo requested to speak with his attorney and asked whether he had the right to do so.

Later, at the police station, he also refused to take a preliminary breath test (PBT).

“My lawyers always told me never to take that test,” the former player is heard saying in the video.

Officers described signs of intoxication

According to the police report, deputies said Romo had red, glassy eyes and that they detected the odor of alcohol.

They also reported finding several miniature liquor bottles (“shooters”) inside his backpack, although Romo denied consuming them.

The report further states that he performed poorly on the standardized field sobriety tests.

Officers obtained a search warrant

After Romo refused the breath test, officers informed him they would seek a search warrant to obtain a sample and continue their investigation.

The former quarterback responded in surprise:

“Are you kidding?”

Authorities arrested Tony Romo on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI). The case remains ongoing, and authorities have not publicly announced a final resolution regarding the charges.
