Man Arrested in Florida for Driving Over 100 mph — His Excuse Sparks Controversy

Michael Stanek, a driver in Palm Coast, Florida, was stopped for going 107 mph (172 km/h) and told police he was late for a barber appointment.

The video released by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office shows the moment 57-year-old Michael Stanek was pulled over and arrested for reckless speeding.

“Why Were You Driving So Fast?”

In the patrol recording, an officer asks:

“Why were you driving so fast?”
To which Michael Stanek responds:
“I have a barber appointment.”

In the state of Florida, exceeding 100 mph or going more than 50 mph over the limit can be considered a criminal offense and may result in jail time.

Drivers like this are classified as “super speeders.”

Arrested for Speeding and Released on Bail

Michael Stanek was taken to the Sheriff Perry Hall Detention Facility and later released after posting a $150 bond, according to authorities.
