Biden Reappears to Applause at the Premiere of Othello

Former U.S. President Joe Biden made a public appearance this Sunday in New York.

He was joined by his wife, Jill Biden, for the premiere of a new production of Othello by William Shakespeare.

The event took place at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on Broadway.

It marked one of Biden’s first public appearances since handing over the presidency to Donald Trump on January 20.

The Othello Premiere Went From a Low-Key Event to a Broadway Surprise

Biden’s first post-White House event occurred on March 15 during a low-profile meeting with youth in New York.

This time, he chose a much more high-profile setting, and his presence did not go unnoticed.

Just minutes before the play began, around eight Secret Service vehicles arrived at the theater.

The scene caused a stir among onlookers expecting to spot celebrities on the red carpet.

When Joe and Jill Biden stepped out of the vehicle, the crowd erupted in cheers and applause.

Their attendance had not been announced, making it a surprise for everyone in attendance.

Inside the theater, the couple received a standing ovation.

The cast of Othello includes stars like Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Other celebrities in attendance included Jennifer Lopez, Colman Domingo, Angela Bassett, Samuel L. Jackson, and Ariana DeBose.

Also present was Karine Jean-Pierre, former White House Press Secretary under Joe Biden’s administration.

Jean-Pierre made history as the first Black woman and openly gay person to hold that position.

According to NBC, Biden appears ready to return to public life with a political purpose.

Sources close to Joe Biden say he plans to defend the policies he championed during his presidency.

The former president has informed Democratic leaders that he’s willing to help raise funds and campaign.

His goal is to stop Republicans from dismantling his political legacy.
