Ángel de los Santos. The entertainment journalism community is mourning following the death of veteran reporter Ángel de los Santos. The heartbreaking news was shared through the official social media accounts of Univision’s iconic morning show, Despierta América.
On its official platforms, the show’s team announced the news while expressing its sorrow over the loss.
Members of the production publicly paid tribute to their colleague with an emotional message.
“We received the heartbreaking news of your passing with deep sorrow, dear Ángel de los Santos. You will always live in our hearts. Rest in peace,” the program posted on its official Instagram account. The show is hosted by Karla Martínez, Alan Tacher, and Francisca Lachapel.

Messages of sympathy from prominent figures in the entertainment industry quickly followed the unexpected passing of the journalist. Despierta América executive producer Luz María Doria shared a heartfelt tribute on her personal social media account.
“You will always remain in my heart, Ángel de los Santos. Thank you for your positive energy, your dedication to your work, and for letting us see your beautiful soul,” the executive wrote. She added: “I’m sure you are now filled with light and living in heaven.”
Entertainment journalist Javier Ceriani also reacted on his digital platforms, expressing his sorrow and extending condolences to the reporter’s family and loved ones.
“On behalf of myself and my entire team, we express our deepest condolences over the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Ángel de los Santos. We stand with his family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly painful time,” Ceriani wrote.

According to a report published by People en Español and written by journalist Moisés González, Ángel de los Santos built a distinguished career spanning more than two decades in the media industry.
Throughout his career, he contributed to well-known Spanish-language television programs, including Escándalo TV, La Tijera, and La Tómbola, in addition to his work with Univision.
In recent years, he served as the host of the entertainment-focused YouTube channel El precio de la fama, a digital platform with more than 150,000 subscribers.
In May of this year, his professional achievements were recognized internationally when he became the first journalist to receive the “La Moneda” award. As of now, the official cause of Ángel de los Santos’ death has not been disclosed.
