A Mexican immigrant with a valid reentry permit was deported while trying to return to the United States.

The case has sparked concern among immigration advocates and attorneys.

David Valdez, who had lived in Southern California for nearly 30 years, had authorization to leave the country and legally return.

However, when he attempted to cross the border from Mexico, immigration agents denied him entry.

Mexican Immigrant Deported Despite Permit

David Valdez had traveled to Sinaloa with a special permit issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

His goal was to visit his mother, but on his return, he encountered an unexpected obstacle.

According to Valdez, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents subjected him to an intense interrogation.

He claims the pressure was so great that he ended up signing a document confirming his voluntary departure from the country.

“They threw me on the floor to rest because there wasn’t even a bed or anything,” David Valdez told Telemundo on camera.

“What shocks me is they treated me, pardon the word, like an animal,” he added.

“I’ve never had issues like this, and that’s what frustrates me,” said the Mexican immigrant.

“I came in peacefully, confident that I’d be allowed in, but that didn’t happen. They detained me for eleven hours and handcuffed me while transferring me from one office to another,” he explained.

“That’s what hurts, because I’m not a criminal to be treated that way,” Valdez told CNN.

David Valdez’s case has raised alarms among immigration experts, who warn of potential abuses by immigration authorities.

Reentry permits, known as “advance parole,” allow certain immigrants to leave the U.S. temporarily without losing their status.

However, being granted the permit does not guarantee automatic reentry.

The incident has left David Valdez in an uncertain situation, unable to return to his home in the U.S.

His family and legal team hope the case can be resolved soon so he can resume his life in California.

For now, his story has become a symbol of the challenges many immigrants face when trying to follow immigration rules.
