- Venezuelan migrants held in megaprison
- Government could face contempt ruling
A federal judge initiated legal proceedings on Wednesday against President Donald Trump, which could place him in serious legal jeopardy.
The case stems from his administration’s decision to defy a judicial order concerning the handling of migrants.
The controversy deepened after it was revealed that more than 200 individuals—mostly Venezuelans—were transferred to a megaprison in El Salvador.
Initial reports indicate this action directly violates a federal court order.

The presiding judge is now working to determine whether Trump’s administration is in contempt of court, according to EFE.
The mass transfer of migrants to the Salvadoran facility has drawn strong criticism from human rights groups.
Advocates claim many of the individuals had no criminal record and no pending legal cases.
Some had active asylum applications in the U.S. The conditions inside the megaprison have been described as extreme, heightening scrutiny of the administration’s actions.
