President Donald Trump suggested he might consider deporting Elon Musk to South Africa amid an escalating feud between the two over Trump’s proposed tax and budget bill.
The threat was made by Trump on July 1 during a press conference with reporters.
His comments came just hours after the president posted a message on his social network, Truth Social, hinting he might order a review of the multi-billion-dollar government contracts held by Musk’s companies.
“We’ll take a look at it,” Trump said when asked if he would deport Musk.

Donald Trump added: “Maybe we’ll have to sic DOGE on Elon. You know what DOGE is? DOGE is the monster that might have to come back and devour Elon. Wouldn’t that be terrible? He gets so many subsidies.”
The clash between the two began when Musk ramped up his criticism of Trump’s tax and budget bill currently under debate in the Senate.

On July 1, Musk posted a series of messages on X (formerly Twitter), voicing strong opposition to the bill and warning Republican lawmakers about potential consequences if they supported it.
Musk even threatened to ramp up primary challenges in the midterm elections to oust those lawmakers.
Musk’s Criticism of the Bill
Trump responded on Truth Social in a post apparently aimed at Musk’s record of securing government subsidies:
“Elon probably gets, by far, more subsidies than any human in history,” Trump wrote.
“Without them, he’d probably have to shut down and go back to South Africa,” according to USA Today.
He added sarcastically: “No more rocket launches, satellites, or electric car production, and our country would save a fortune.”
Conclusion
Musk wasted no time responding to Trump’s posts. On X, he wrote simply: “I literally say: CUT IT ALL! Now!”
The clash between Trump and Musk reflects not only a dispute over economic policy but also the growing tension between the business world and American politics.
With both figures known for their strong opinions and frequent controversies, this episode could mark a new chapter in their turbulent relationship.
