The president-elect indicated that he may also use the National Guard and local law enforcement to bolster deportation efforts.

However, U.S. law restricts the use of the Armed Forces for enforcing domestic laws without Congressional approval.
“I will absolutely do this within the confines of the law, but to the fullest extent that it allows,” president-elect Donald Trump declared.
He also suggested the possibility of building new detention facilities to house deported migrants.
“I don’t want them sitting in a camp for the next 20 years,” stated the president-elect.
Donald Trump further threatened to impose tariffs on countries that refuse to accept deported migrants.
“If they don’t take them, they will face substantial tariffs that will make it hard to do business with us,” he warned.

The president-elect reiterated that he would not separate families with mixed immigration status during deportations.
“I’d rather deport them together and give them the option to leave the country as a unit,” he mentioned in a recent interview with NBC News.
This stance has sparked protests from immigrants and activists who oppose mass deportation policies.
