- Samanta Zapon, 19, was killed by a bullet in the chest in Houston, Texas, and her crime is a mystery.
- The girl’s friends and family had reported her missing and found her dead.
- Now the Houston Police Department needs the help of the community to solve the case.
Young Samanta Zapon
was killed by a bullet in the chest and the police have, so far, no clue of the crime.
Zapon, 19, was found dead by a bullet in the chest by police officers from the Houston Police Department (HPD) and the authorities need the help of the community to solve the case.
The story you are about to read is based on the HPD crime report. It all started with a report by Samanta Zapon’s family and friends about her alleged disappearance on Monday, January 4, 2021.
The HPD patrolmen who attended the report wrote down all the details of the girl’s alleged disappearance such as her car, private address and telephone number to begin tracking her.
The telephone number was the key to finding her since, through the Global Positioning System (GPS), the HPD agents were able to locate the area where the young Samanta Zapon could be.
An HPD patrol car was dispatched to 8700 Meadowcroft Drive in west Houston behind the AMC Studio 30 movie theater complex, a popular hangout for teens in the city.
When the agent arrived, he found the girl’s car parked on the street and was struck by the fact that the car was parked on the street and, apparently, with several hours of not having been moved.
As he approached, the HPD agent found Samanta Zapon lying next to the car without signs of violence and with an obvious bullet in the chest and asked for support to transfer her to a hospital.

The paramedics of the Houston Fire Department (HFD, for its acronym in English) who arrived at the scene alerted by the emergency call of the patrol car could not do anything for the girl and she was pronounced dead.
What began as an investigation into a missing girl report turned into an investigation for HPD’s Homicide Division at 11:10 p.m. Monday.
In the HPD investigations, agents of the Homicide Division noted that the report of the disappearance of Samanta Zapon was made at 10700 Westbrae Parkway, in the Brays Oaks neighborhood, in southwest Houston.
From 10700 Westbrae Parkway to 8700 Meadowcroft Drive, from where the missing person was reported, to 8700 Meadowcroft Drive, where the girl’s body was discovered, there are 18 miles away.
Authorities are trying to determine what motivated Samanta Zapon to go from the Brays Oaks neighborhood to west Houston and if anyone motivated her to go to the place where she met her death.
The mysterious murder of Samanta Zapon has caused outrage in her family and friends who have expressed their dismay at the girl’s death on social media.
Glenda Manzanares, cousin of the murdered girl’s mother, opened the account Go Fund Me under the name Samanta Zapon’s Funeral and Memorial (Samanta Zapon Funeral Ceremony) to ask for help to cover the expenses generated after her death.
«I write this with regret, today (Monday, January 4) we received the news of Samanta’s death,» wrote Manzanares, who described the girl as a «an intelligent, kind and compassionate person ”.
According to the testimony, the girl “had a whole life ahead of her at only 19 years old… but unfortunately God had other plans for her. Please help my family by keeping us in your prayers ”, they ask in their statement.
The family closes their statement by accepting “donations to cover this unforeseen misfortune and every detail is appreciated. Thank you very much and God bless you ”in a tragedy that has marked you with a deep pain.
Now the HPD Homicide Division asks the Hispanic population of Houston and Texas that if anyone has any reliable clue that leads to the identification and location of the murderers of Samanta Zapon, contact 713.308.3600.
The information can also be shared with the non-profit organization Houston Crime Stoppers by calling 713.222.8477. All tracks will be kept anonymous and there are Spanish speaking staff.
The murder of Samanta Isabel Zapon has shocked the city of Houston because she died apparently senseless since her belongings were not stolen and she was also found next to her car.
