The search of Swalwell’s home marks a new development in the case surrounding the Democratic politician, whose career took a dramatic turn after the allegations against him became public.

According to CNN, in addition to searching the former congressman’s home, federal agents seized several electronic devices at San Francisco International Airport over the past weekend.

The network said these actions are part of a federal investigation, although the information provided does not offer further details about the contents of the seized devices or authorities’ next steps.

As part of the investigation, the FBI has spoken with two of the women who publicly accused Swalwell.

Allegations Led to Swalwell’s Departure From Congress

Eric Swalwell Denied the Allegation and Acknowledged “Errors in Judgment”

After announcing his decision to leave Congress, Eric Swalwell issued a statement on his X account denying the most serious allegations against him.

At the same time, the politician acknowledged making mistakes and apologized to those who may have been affected by his decisions.

“I deeply apologize to my family, my staff, and my constituents for the errors in judgment I made in the past. I will fight the serious and false allegation that has been made against me. However, I must take responsibility and own the mistakes I did make,” the former congressman said at the time.

The statement reflected the two parts of his public response: on one hand, he rejected the allegation he described as false; on the other, he accepted responsibility for other mistakes he said he had made in the past.

Former Aide Accuses Ex-Congressman of Two Sexual Assaults

Among the allegations Swalwell faces is one made by a former aide, who says the then-congressman sexually assaulted her twice after a night of drinking.

According to testimony published by CNN, it is not the only allegation involving the politician’s behavior.

Three other women told the network that they experienced inappropriate sexual conduct by Eric Swalwell.

Among the alleged conduct, they cited the unsolicited sending of nude photographs and explicit messages by the congressman.
