The system is located about 240 kilometers (150 miles) south-southwest of Playa Pérula, Jalisco.
It is also 245 kilometers (152 miles) southwest of Manzanillo, in the state of Colima.

It has sustained winds of 120 km/h (75 mph) and gusts reaching 150 km/h (93 mph), according to the latest report issued at 9:00 a.m. Central Mexico time.
The hurricane’s rainbands will bring heavy rains to Jalisco, Colima, and Michoacán.
Expected rainfall totals range between 25 and 50 millimeters in these states.
Hurricane Bárbara Poses Risk to Coastal Areas
Showers are also forecast in Nayarit, with rainfall between 5 and 25 millimeters.
The SMN warned of wind gusts between 60 and 80 km/h (37 to 50 mph) along the coasts of Jalisco and Colima.
In Nayarit and Michoacán, winds of up to 60 km/h (37 mph) are expected.
Waves will be high, ranging between 3.5 and 4.5 meters (11.5 to 14.7 feet) in Jalisco, Colima, and Michoacán.
Mexican Authorities Urge Prevention
On the coasts of Nayarit, wave heights may reach up to 2.5 meters (8.2 feet).
Authorities have urged the public to exercise extreme caution due to possible landslides.
They also warned of the risk of rivers and streams overflowing in low-lying areas.
Civil Protection recommends following official advisories and avoiding activities in coastal areas.
2025 Hurricane Season Already Has Two Hurricanes
Meanwhile, the SMN continues monitoring Tropical Storm Cosme.
Cosme is located more than 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) south-southwest of Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur.
So far, it poses no risk to national territory, according to the agency.
“Due to its distance, it does not generate any effects on national territory,” the SMN stated.
Hurricane Bárbara Reflects Climate Challenges
With Bárbara, there are now two named cyclones in the Pacific in the 2025 season.
The first was Tropical Storm Alvin, which formed at the end of May.
The hurricane season officially began on May 15 and will last through November.
Mexico anticipates the formation of up to 37 named cyclones in both oceans.
