President Donald Trump stated on Friday that he deliberately spared the life of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
This during recent attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
By refusing to share Khamenei’s whereabouts with Israel or authorize a U.S. military operation against him.

In a post on his Truth Social network, Trump asserted that Khamenei was in hiding during airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities—Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz—and that he had precise knowledge of his location.
“I didn’t allow Israel or our armed forces… to take his life. I saved him from a horrible and ignominious death.”
He wrote defiantly, without expecting gratitude:
“He doesn’t have to say ‘THANK YOU, PRESIDENT TRUMP!’”

Trump recounted that, in the “final act of the war,” he ordered Israel to turn back a group of planes headed for Tehran—
Planes that were poised to carry out what he described as “the biggest attack of the war” between Israel and Iran.
According to the president, the operation would have caused “tremendous damage” and the deaths of “many Iranians.”
This decision, he claims, prevented a full-scale escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.

Trump also criticized the ayatollah for publicly declaring that Iran had won the war against Israel.
“As a man of great faith, he shouldn’t lie,” he said.
The president seized the moment to issue a warning to the Iranian regime, describing it as “hostile, unhappy, and hopeless,” with a collapsed economy and a situation that, in his words, “will only get worse.”

A Double-Edged Message
Trump’s statements aim to reinforce his image as a commander-in-chief capable of acting forcefully, yet also with “restraint.”
By avoiding a direct strike on the Iranian leader.
However, the rhetoric also raises regional tensions and poses questions about diplomatic channels between the U.S., Iran, and Israel amid a high-risk geopolitical environment.
