According to court documents reviewed by The Independent, the woman had been living in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
At the age of 14, she was forced to become the sixth wife of an African politician.
The marriage was part of repayment for a family debt.

Throughout her adolescence and adulthood, she endured repeated physical and sexual abuse.
She had four children within that relationship. Because of the transactional nature of the marriage, she effectively lived as a captive.
She attempted to escape several times. In 2024, she left her home seeking a new life.
The politician located her. As punishment, he forced her to witness the murder of her father.
He allegedly ordered his bodyguards to execute him and burn down the family home.
After reporting him, authorities advised her to leave the country.
They told her they could not protect her from her abuser.
Escape Through More Than 12 Countries
According to the legal filing prepared by her attorneys, the woman who was recently deported from the United States fled Africa alongside her brother, crossing more than 12 countries.
They sought to reach the U.S. border. During the journey, her husband managed to contact her.
He sent her a message while she was in Brazil, claiming he knew her whereabouts.
He threatened her again and insisted he would find her, reinforcing the fears she had expressed in her asylum application.
Despite the risk, she continued her journey north. The trip was marked by uncertainty and danger.
Arrival in the United States and Deportation to Africa
According to legal documents, her brother disappeared during the journey.
Authorities believe a drug cartel in Mexico may have kidnapped him. She continued alone until reaching the United States.
At the time, President Donald Trump was leading the country. She requested permission to remain in U.S. territory.
She argued that returning home meant certain death. However, ICE agents detained her and later deported her, leading to what her attorneys describe as a life-threatening ICE deportation of an asylum seeker case.
Her lawyers state that they do not know the exact region in Africa to which she was sent.
They insist that her removal places her in extreme danger.
The case has drawn public attention, with her legal team describing the situation as urgent.
They warn that without protection, her life is at immediate risk.
