U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that he does not see the creation of the America Party, the new political group announced by Elon Musk, as a threat.
Far from appearing worried, Trump said during a cabinet meeting that the emergence of this party might actually benefit him electorally.
“I think it will help us. Third parties have always worked well for me. I’m not sure about the Republicans, but for me, yes,” he declared confidently.
The comment was made during the sixth cabinet session since he began his second term on January 20.
Elon Musk Launches America Party
Elon Musk, owner of X and South African magnate, surprised the American political world with the announcement of his party last weekend.
The new group, named America Party, aims to break away from the traditional two-party system that dominates American politics.

According to Musk, his goal is to build an alternative capable of “returning freedom to the United States.”
His message has caught the attention of influential entrepreneurs such as Mark Cuban, Anthony Scaramucci, and tech investor Tyler Palmer.
Reactions to Elon Musk’s Third Party Announcement
The announcement immediately sparked mixed reactions across the U.S. political and media landscape. Musk seeks to attract voters disenchanted with both Democrats and Republicans, betting on a disruptive message.
For his supporters, it represents a chance to change a political dynamic they consider stagnant.
But for his critics, it’s a risky move that could split key votes and alter electoral calculations.
Trump, however, expressed skepticism about the real chances of success for this new party.
Trump Criticizes and Dismisses the Project
The day after the announcement, he took to his platform Truth Social to launch a direct attack on his former ally.
“It saddens me to see Elon Musk completely lose his way, essentially becoming a DERAILING TRAIN over the past five weeks,” he wrote.
The president suggested Musk is going through an erratic and unpredictable phase, describing him as out of control.
Trump also mocked the viability of third parties in the U.S. political system. He argued that they have never prospered because, in his view, the system “doesn’t seem designed for them.”
Splitting the Anti-Trump Vote
Despite his public ridicule, on Tuesday he adopted a more pragmatic tone and asserted that, rather than hurting him, Elon Musk’s America Party could actually help.
Political analysts point out that the presence of a third party could fracture the anti-Trump vote.
Dividing the electorate among Democrats, the America Party, and other candidates would benefit the current president’s chances of reelection.
In the past, Trump has capitalized on divisions within the opposition to consolidate his electoral victories. For this reason, he does not appear worried about Musk’s new political movement and, in fact, sees it as a strategic advantage.
The Tycoon Aims to Break the Two-Party System
Meanwhile, Musk has reiterated that his goal is to offer a fresh and independent option for the American electorate.
He insists the America Party arises from the need to move beyond the extreme partisanship polarizing the country. “Returning freedom to the United States” was the slogan with which Musk publicly launched his new initiative.
The proposal has already sparked debates about its real potential in the country’s competitive and restrictive electoral system.
Many recall the historic failures of third parties in the United States, with attempts rarely moving beyond symbolic levels.
A More Complex Electoral Landscape
However, support from business figures and Musk’s media reach could give him greater visibility than usual.
In the coming weeks, more details are expected about the America Party’s political platform.
It will also become clear whether it can forge alliances, present competitive candidates, or secure funding for a national campaign.
Meanwhile, Trump continues to project confidence that his Republican base will remain solid. “Third parties have always worked well for me,” he insisted with a smile, making it clear he plans to capitalize on any opposition division, according to EFE and Yahoo News.
