Armored Vehicles Rammed the Gates of Bolivia’s Government Palace on Wednesday.

While President Luis Arce said the country faced an attempted coup, he insisted he remains firm and urged people to mobilize.

Army General Juan José Zúñiga confirmed the coup against the socialist President Luis Arce.

The general stated, «There will be a new cabinet, this cannot continue.»

Just minutes earlier, a senior government official had warned of an attempted coup, according to The Associated Press.

President Luis Arce also mentioned that an “irregular” deployment of troops was occurring in the capital.

In a message on his X account, Arce called for “respect for democracy.”

This happened while Bolivian television showed two tanks and several men in military uniform in front of the Government Palace.

Former Bolivian President Evo Morales, also in a message on X, denounced the military movement in Murillo Square, outside the palace, calling it a “coup in progress.”

Army Commander General Juan José Zúñiga, present in the same square, confirmed the movement of uniformed officers.

The general said, «We are upset by the affront, enough is enough.»

He spoke on television about «attacks on democracy,» without providing further details.

María Nela Prada, Minister of the Presidency and one of Bolivia’s top officials, said the military and tanks were taking over the square, calling it an “attempted coup.”

«The people are on alert to defend democracy,» she told the local television station Red Uno.

On social media, videos are being shared of the moment a tank knocked down the gates of Bolivia’s Executive headquarters.

This followed Army Commander General Juan José Zúñiga’s threat to take over the Government headquarters and change the cabinet.
